Man Fatally Shot by New Braunfels Police After Alleged Knife Attack

A fatal confrontation unfolded Saturday afternoon at Sage Apartments in New Braunfels, leaving a 33-year-old Spring, Texas man dead.

 

Police responded around 4:15 p.m. to a reported disturbance between a man and a woman on West San Antonio Street.

 

As officers arrived and engaged both individuals, the man allegedly drew a sharp weapon and advanced toward them.

 

Both officers fired their service weapons, striking the man.

 

Despite prompt medical aid from police and New Braunfels Fire Department paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

No officers or other civilians were hurt in the incident.

 

The two officers, with a combined four years of service, are on administrative leave as investigations by New Braunfels Police and the Texas Rangers continue.

 

The community is urged to stay engaged and informed as New Braunfels works through these challenging events.

New Braunfels has reopened public access to the Comal and Guadalupe Rivers after temporary closures caused by heavy rainfall and rising water levels.

 

Relieved residents and visitors can now enjoy the rivers for recreation, with city officials urging everyone to follow safety guidelines as conditions return to normal.

 

The city is also embracing fresh energy, announcing the transformation of the historic 96-year-old former City Hall on Seguin Avenue into the Old City Hall Restaurant and Bar, set to open late 2025.

 

This new upscale dining experience aims to celebrate local heritage while adding vibrancy to downtown, joining a lively scene alongside Sidecar, Cowboys & Cadillacs, and Muck & Fuss.

 

New Braunfels continues investing in its future, encouraging residents to help shape the Arts & Culture Master Plan through an online survey, strengthening its inclusive and dynamic atmosphere.

 

The city’s resilience, ongoing growth, and commitment to culture promise a bright path ahead for all.
